This week we look at the light curve of the star TX Ori, in the Sigma-Ori star forming region. We looked at parts of it’s light curve already in previous posts (week 141, week 220). In these we have seen that this is one of the most consistently variable sources in our sample. It changes its brightness by roughly up to two magnitudes on timescales from days to months.

In the plot above we show the first half of the R and I-band light curves from the last observing season – autumn 2023. And we can see that TX Ori is doing it’s TX Ori thing. Variations are apparent of up to 1.5 magnitudes on a wide range of timescales. There is even a 1.5 magnitude brightening event over just two days at JD=2460242.

You can explore the currently available data in full using the light curve plot function on the server. This includes all the latest data from this season as well.
