This week we look at V608Mon, a T-Tauri star near the Cone Nebula in the target region NGC2264. The last time we looked at this source was in week 286, about one year ago.

In images the object is surrounded by a small reflection nebula, which make the brightness measurements slightly more difficult. However, the object shows long term and short term brightness variations. We can see that in the last observing season it underwent a dimming event that was about 0.5mag deep and lasted about 2 months. The intrinsic short term variability on a day to day timescale is of the order of 0.2-0.3mag and roughly 2-3 times larger than they typical uncertainty of the photometry (which is ~10%).

Note the increased number of observations for this field over the last 3yr. This allows us to trace the shorter timescale variations much more accurately.
