This weeks light curve is of the star 2MASS J21530411+4652548, which is situated about 23′ south of the young cluster IC5146. The star is not a young stellar object, nor a member of the cluster. It seems to be a background giant star at a distance of about 4.6kpc, but with a large uncertainty. The star is extremely red with V-I colours of about 5mag. It is a know long period variable. The light curve from HOYS, we show the V, R and I data, clearly shows that this classification is correct. One can see quasi periodic brightness changes with an approximate period of about 300 days and a (changable) amplitude of the order of 1mag – larger at shorter wavelengths.
